Zones
Go to the System → Localization → Zones
Zones are the geographic subdivisions of a country, such as states, provinces, or territories, that AbanteCart uses to calculate shipping rates and taxes accurately. Zones belong to Countries, and both can be grouped into Locations.
Key Fields & Configuration
When adding or editing a zone, you will encounter the following fields:
Zone Name: The full name of the region (e.g., "California" or "Ontario").
Zone Code: The official short-code for the area (e.g., "CA" or "ON"). This is often required by shipping carriers to generate labels.
Country: The parent country to which this specific zone belongs.
Status: Set to Enabled to allow this zone to be used for shipping and tax calculations.
Restricting Sales by Zone
If you wish to refuse shipping or sales to a specific region, simply set the Status for that zone to OFF. Once disabled, that zone will no longer be an option for customers during the checkout process (and registration), effectively preventing orders from that area.
Tip: Before disabling a zone, double-check if any of your active shipping extensions or tax rules rely on it, as this might lead to errors for customers accidentally trying to use an address in that region.
