Create a Blog
Many merchants assume they need to install a separate blogging platform like WordPress, Medium, Substack, or Ghost to publish content for their store. For most stores, you do not. AbanteCart's CMS includes a full blog: a hub page that lists posts in reverse chronological order, individual post pages with title, author, publish date, tags, images, and a rich text editor, and the same per-page layout system as any other content page. That means a post can be enriched with product blocks, banners, custom forms, and links to related content. Your blog lives on your store's own domain, your SEO signal stays consolidated, and you do not run a second platform.
Set up the blog hub page
The blog is a parent content page. Every post will be created as a child of this page.
In the admin, go to Design → Content and click the + button.
Content Title: a clear name for the hub (for example "Blog", "News", or "Our Insights").
Content: optional welcome text or a short description of what the blog covers.
Meta Tag Description: a one or two sentence summary that will appear under the blog page title in search results.
SEO Keyword: a short, lowercase slug for the URL, for example
blog. The full URL will bewww.mystore.com/blog/. See Enable SEO URLs.Status: ON.
Save the page.
Add it to the menu in Design → Menu so customers and search engines can reach it.
Create a blog post
Each post is a child page of the blog hub.
In Design → Content, click + to add a new page.
Set the Parent Content Page to your blog hub (for example Blog).
Content Title (post title): descriptive and keyword-aware. Example: How to Choose the Perfect Running Shoes.
Description (Brief Text): a short summary shown in post listings and in content blocks such as New Content.
Content (post body): written in the Visual or HTML editor. Format text, add images, embed video.
Main Image: the hero image for the post and the image used in post listings.
Publish Date: when the post should appear. Use a future date to schedule a post in advance.
Expiration Date: optional. Use it for time-bound posts you want to retire automatically.
Author: the author's name.
Content Details Bar: ON to show the author and publish date at the top of the post.
Content Tags: short keywords (topics) that group related posts. Tags help readers browse by theme and structure your archive as it grows.
Meta Tag Description: the SERP snippet for the post.
SEO Keyword: the post slug. Keep it short, lowercase, and descriptive, for example
perfect-running-shoes. The full URL will bewww.mystore.com/blog/perfect-running-shoes.Save the post.
New posts appear automatically on the blog hub page, in reverse chronological order (newest first).
Enrich a blog post with blocks
Each post has its own Layout, separate from the blog hub. Use it to turn an article into a conversion path:
Product blocks: feature the products the post is about so readers can buy directly from the article.
Banner blocks: highlight a related promotion alongside the article.
HTML blocks: comparison tables, calculators, callouts, or any custom widget.
Content blocks: link to related posts or guides.
Custom form (Forms Manager): newsletter signup or a topical lead-capture form.
For the full layout walkthrough, see Building a Landing Page.
Display blog content elsewhere on the storefront
Latest posts on the home page: add a Content block (such as New Content) to the home page layout to surface your most recent articles.
On product or category pages: place a Content block in the page's layout to recommend related articles.
Tag links: visitors who click a tag on a blog post see a list of every post that shares that tag.
Let visitors search your blog
The Content Search block puts a search box on the storefront that searches your content pages (blog posts and any other content), separate from the product search. As your blog grows, it becomes the fastest way for readers to find older articles.
The Content Search block ships with AbanteCart and is listed in Design → Blocks. No setup is required; you just need to place it on a page.
To show it on the blog hub, open the blog hub page's Layout view, pick the section where it should appear (typically a sidebar or near the top of the page), and add the Content Search block from the available blocks.
You can also add it to a shared layout (the header or a sidebar in the default layout) so the search box is available across the whole site.
Visitors type a keyword and submit. The results page lists matching content pages.
The keyword search runs across three fields on each post: Content Title, Description (Brief Text), and the main Content body. Clear titles, a useful Description, and well-written content all make a post easier to find.
Content Tags are a separate filter, not part of the keyword search. When a visitor clicks a tag on a post, they see every post that shares that tag.
SEO checklist for blog posts
Content Title: descriptive and keyword-aware.
SEO Keyword (slug): short, lowercase, hyphen-separated.
Meta Tag Description: the SERP snippet, written to encourage click-through.
Meta Tag Keywords: a small set of relevant keywords.
Description (Brief Text): the preview text used by listings on your own site.
Content Tags: group related posts and create internal cross-links.
Author and Publish Date: signal authorship and freshness.
Main Image with a descriptive filename and alt text.
Best practices
Publish consistently. A steady cadence (weekly or fortnightly) beats sporadic bursts.
Connect posts to products. Use product blocks in the post layout so readers can act on what they read.
Internal linking. Link related posts and relevant category or product pages from the post body.
Update older posts. Refresh the Content and bump the Publish Date if you make substantial updates. Field history lets you roll back if needed.
Use tags sparingly. Five to ten well-chosen tags across your blog beat fifty one-off tags.
