Install Extension
AbanteCart offers several methods for installing extensions, providing flexibility depending on your technical skills and access. Here's a breakdown of the available installation methods
Install via Marketplace (Recommended):
This is the easiest and most recommended method. It allows you to browse, purchase, and install extensions directly from the AbanteCart Marketplace within your admin panel.
Advantages:
Easiest method.
Direct access to a wide range of extensions.
Automatic updates (for some extensions).
Disadvantages:
Requires an Store connection.
Only available for extensions listed on the Marketplace.
Install via Package Upload (Extension upload):
This method is used when you have a downloaded extension package (a .tar.gz
file). This might be the case if you purchased the extension directly from a developer or downloaded a free extension.
Advantages:
Can be used for extensions not available on the Marketplace.
Relatively simple process.
Disadvantages:
Requires you to have the extension package downloaded.
You are responsible for updates.
Install with FTP (or hosting file manager):
This method is more technical and involves uploading the extension files directly to your server using an FTP client. It's generally only recommended if other methods are not available or if you are comfortable working with FTP.
Advantages:
Can be used for any extension, regardless of its source.
Disadvantages:
Requires technical knowledge of FTP and server administration.
More prone to errors if files are uploaded incorrectly or correct file permissions not set.
Install with Marketplace Key (Network Install):
Purchased extensions have an installation key for use in the connected store. This method is common for installing the upgrades.
Choosing the Right Method:
Marketplace: The best option for most users due to its ease of use.
Package Upload: Ideal when you have a downloaded extension package.
FTP: Only use this if you're comfortable with FTP and server administration.
Key: Usually a part of another installation method, not the sole method.
