Content Version Vault
The Content Version Vault ( Field History) is a fantastic feature for managing product data in AbanteCart. It addresses a common frustration: accidentally overwriting product descriptions, titles, or other crucial content. Here's a breakdown:
How the Content Version Vault Works:
Version History: Every time you edit and save changes to a product's text or HTML content (name, description, meta description, etc.), AbanteCart automatically creates a new version and stores it in the vault.
Reverting Changes: If you make a mistake or decide you don't like the changes you've made, you can easily revert to a previous version. The Content Version Vault provides an interface to browse through the version history for a specific product.
One-Click Restore: Restoring a previous version is typically a one-click process. Select the version you want to revert to, and AbanteCart will restore that version's content.
Products Embed feature
With AbanteCart you can sell anything on any website including static HTML pages. To get the product's embed code click on the share icon. Read more about how to embed your products on any HTML page in Embed your store article.

General Data Tab
go to the Catalog → Products
This is where you'll enter or view the core information about your product.
In a multilingual AbanteCart store, product descriptions (and often other text-based fields) are typically multilingual, meaning you need to provide translations for each language you have enabled.
Language Dropdown: In the top right corner of the product edit form (and other relevant forms), you'll find a dropdown menu. This menu allows you to select the content language you're currently editing.
Status: Crucial! If the status is "OFF," the product will not be visible on your storefront, even if you've filled in all other details. Make sure this is "ON" when you want the product to be available for purchase.
Featured Product: Setting this to "ON" designates the product as "featured." This often means it will be displayed in a special "Featured Products" block on your homepage (or elsewhere), depending on your theme's configuration.
Product Name: The official name of your product. This is what customers will see and search for, so make it clear, descriptive, and appealing.
Blurb: A short, concise description of the product. This is often used in product listings (category pages, search results) and sometimes as a brief overview at the top of the product page itself (theme dependent). Think of it as a "teaser" to encourage customers to read the full description.
Description: The full, detailed description of your product. This is where you provide all the information a customer needs to know about the product, its features, benefits, specifications, etc.
If you're comfortable with HTML, it's often safer to switch to the "text" or "code" view of the editor when working with complex HTML. This gives you more direct control over the code and reduces the risk of the visual editor making unwanted modifications. Always preview your changes on the storefront to ensure they are displayed as intended.
Language Dropdown: In the top right corner of the product edit form (and other relevant forms), you'll find a dropdown menu. This menu allows you to select the content language you're currently editing.
Meta Tag Keywords: is supposed to be a brief and concise list of the most important themes of your product's page. Meta Tag Keywords are used by search engines to describe the content of your website. Keywords to be used in the keywords META tag on the product page HTML source.
Meta Tag Description: a brief and concise summary of your product's page's content.
Product Tags: Tags help to make searching for products easier. Add a few relevant keywords that can be used when a customer is viewing some product, then the customer clicks on one of the product's tags to see a list of all products with the same tag. Only Administrator users can add tags in the admin. Use a comma as a delimiter. Product Tags will be viewable by everyone browsing the product info page and can be used as a search keyword at Storefront.
Categories: Category or categories where the product will be displayed on the storefront.
Product Categorization in AbanteCart:
Category Assignment: You can assign a product to one or more categories. This determines where the product will be visible on your storefront's category pages.
Multiple Categories: A product can belong to multiple categories. This is useful for products that fit into more than one category (e.g., a "red dress" might belong to both "Dresses" and "Red Clothing").
Subcategory Inheritance: This is a very important point. If you assign a product to a subcategory, it will automatically also be visible in the parent category (and any higher-level ancestor categories). This is called category inheritance
Stores: If you have multiple stores set up in AbanteCart, you'll see a list of these stores on the product edit page. You can then select which store(s) the product should be available in.

Brand: Before you can assign a product to a brand (manufacturer), you need to have defined those brands in your AbanteCart in Catalog → Brands.
Model: The "Model" number (or sometimes called "Product Code" or similar) is intended to be a unique identifier for a specific product. While not required the "Model" number is searchable
Price and Tax related
Block Product From Ordering: Enable "Call for order". This will put a product to display mode with no ability to purchase. Price remains visible.
Price: The primary price you enter in the "Price" field should be the price before tax (excluding tax). This is the base price of the product. This "Price" is what's generally displayed on the storefront as the product's regular price.
If you set a "Special Price" (a discounted price in the Promotions Tab) for the product, the original "Price" you entered will still be visible (often as a strikethrough price) to show the discount.
Price with Tax Input (Optional): AbanteCart allows you to enter the price including tax to help you quickly fill the Price field. If you do this, AbanteCart will automatically calculate the price excluding tax and store that value (the price before tax). Note: This automatic tax calculation is based on two key factors:
Tax Class: The tax class selected. This determines the tax rates that apply to the product.
Store Default Address: The default address configured for your store. This is used to determine the tax jurisdiction and thus the specific tax rates.
Cost: The "Cost" field is for you to enter the wholesale cost of the product – the price you paid for it from your supplier or manufacturer. This field is for internal purposes only and does not require a value.
Tax Class: The "Tax Class" setting determines whether sales tax should be applied to the product and, if so, which tax rules should be used. By default, AbanteCart comes with one option for this drop-down: Taxable Goods.
Tax Configuration: The actual tax rates and rules are configured separately in AbanteCart's tax settings. The "Tax Class" simply links the product to those rules.
Tax Calculation: When a customer purchases a product, AbanteCart uses the product's assigned "Tax Class" (along with other factors like the customer's address) to calculate the appropriate sales tax.
You can learn more about setting up the Tax Classes and Tax Rates that apply to the Taxable Goods Tax Class, as well as creating new Tax Classes in the System → Localization → Tax Classes chapter. In case your product is taxable you can show your customer's price including taxes. Enable this in the Checkout settings
Stock related
Track Stock:
YES (Enabled): If you set "Track Stock" to "YES" for a product, AbanteCart will actively track the stock quantity for that product. This means:
You'll be able to enter and manage the number of units you have in stock.
When a customer places an order, the ordered quantity will be automatically subtracted from the stock level.
If the stock level reaches zero (or a threshold you define), the product can be automatically marked as out of stock or made unavailable for purchase based on your store setting.
NO (Disabled): If you set "Track Stock" to "NO," AbanteCart will not track the stock quantity for that product. This is useful for products where you don't have a limited inventory (e.g., digital downloads, services) or if you manage stock tracking separately. Orders can be placed for these products regardless of any stock level.
Inactive Settings: If you see the "Track Stock" settings are inactive, this indicates that one of the product options' value higher-level setting is already forcing stock tracking to be enabled. This prevents you from disabling it at the general product level.
Read more about Stock processing configurations.
Quantity:
The "Quantity" field is where you enter the current number of units you have in stock for a product.
Track Stock Dependency: This field is only active and usable if the "Track Stock" setting is set to "ON". If "Track Stock" is "OFF," the "Quantity" field will be inactive because you're not tracking inventory for that product.
Stock Locations: Not required. AbanteCart allows you to define multiple "stock locations" or "warehouses." This is useful if you store your inventory in different places. Quantity per Location: You can then specify the quantity of a product that you have in each of these locations.
Read more in the Inventory manual. Add new locations in the System → Localization → Locations
Minimum Quantity: This setting forces customers to purchase at least the specified minimum quantity of the product. If a customer tries to add less than the minimum to their cart, the system will automatically adjust it to the minimum. The minimum quantity is usually clearly displayed on the product details page to inform the customer.
Maximum Quantity: This setting limits the maximum number of units of the product that a customer can add to their cart in a single order. A value of 0 means there is no maximum limit.
Stock Checkout (Backorders):
Out-of-Stock Purchases: This setting controls whether customers can purchase a product even if it's currently out of stock (backordering).
Global Default or Override: You can either use the global "Stock Checkout" setting from your store's checkout settings or override it specifically for this product.
Pre-Order Stock Status: The message shown if product stock or options will drop to 0 or below and Stock Checkout is Enabled for a product.
Important to understand product stock status flow read the Inventory article
SKU: The products SKU. In the "SKU" text box you can set a unique identification number for this item. If you're using product options (e.g., size, color) and you assign SKUs to the option values (e.g., a different SKU for a "red" t-shirt vs. a "blue" t-shirt), then it's generally best not to set a SKU at the main product level.
Misc Location: The "Misc Location" field is a place to store additional data related to the product.
SEO related
SEO Keyword: The SEO Keyword or Slug field is crucial for creating search engine-friendly URLs for your product pages. Keep the lowercase keyword short and descriptive of the product. Avoid overly long or generic keywords. Use hyphens (-) to separate words in the keyword. Don't use underscores (_) or spaces.
URL Component: The SEO keyword is the part of the URL that comes after your domain name and any category paths. It's what makes your product page URL readable and descriptive.
Indexing Importance: This keyword is important for search engine optimization (SEO). Search engines use it to understand what your product page is about.
Default Value (Product Name): When you create a product, AbanteCart often automatically populate this field with the product name. This is a good starting point, but you might want to customize it for better SEO.
Generate Button: The "Generate" button is a handy shortcut. It will automatically create an SEO keyword based on the product name.

Date Available: This field lets you specify the date on which a product will become visible and available for purchase on your storefront. Before this date, the product will be hidden from customers and search engines.
Sort Order: The "Sort Order" value determines the position of a product relative to other products in the same category or search result listing.
Shipping related
Requires Shipping: This is a fundamental setting. If set to "Off," the product is considered a digital good or a service and the checkout process will skip the shipping address and delivery method selection steps. If set to "On," standard shipping calculations and options will apply.
Ship Product Individually: Enabling this means the product will be shipped in its own separate package, even if the customer orders multiple items. This may results in additional shipping costs for each individually shipped product. It's used for items that can't be combined with others in a single package (due to size, fragility, etc.).
Free Shipping (Product Level): This setting offers free shipping for this specific product. However, free shipping will only apply if all products in the customer's cart are also marked as "Free Shipping."
Fixed Shipping Price: This allows you to set a specific shipping price for the individual product.
Length/Width/Height: These dimensions may be used for shipping calculations, especially with carriers that consider dimensional weight (volumetric weight). Accurate dimensions are essential for getting accurate shipping quotes.
Length Class: This specifies the unit of measurement for length, width, and height (e.g., centimeters, inches)
Weight: The product's actual weight, used for shipping calculations. If you have product options (e.g., size, color) and these options affect the weight or dimensions of the product, you can manage weight at the option level, based on the main product level.
Weight Class: Weight classes are used to provide a structured way of handling products and shipping systems that use different units of weight.
