Auto-translate Status

This setting enables the automatic copying or translation of missing text definitions or language-specific data (banners, descriptions) when the current language doesn't have the necessary text values.

Auto-translate will only translate or copy newly created content. If you want to automatically translate content when editing, please enable the "Override if source language text was changed" setting.

Source language for translation

Choose the language from which content will be automatically translated. This feature only works if you save all translatable content in the selected source language. If you modify text in any other language, automatic translation won't occur.

Text Translation Method

hoose the desired translation method. The default is a direct copy of the source language text. Additional methods might be available if you have installed specific translation extensions. For instance, the Google Translate extension uses the Google Translate API v2 to translate from the source language to all other supported languages.

Caution for Google Translate API users: Using Google Translate for large-scale translations can result in significant costs due to the API's pricing structure.

Override if source language text was changed

When enabled, any changes to the source language text (e.g., product name, description, category) will automatically update translations in all other languages. For instance, if English is your source language and you edit a product, the name, description, and blurb will be translated or copied to all other enabled languages.

AbanteCart provides a tool for efficiently copying, translating, or replacing multi-language data, including product information, order status names, tax names, and more. To access this feature, navigate to System → Localization → Languages. Select a language, click "Edit" and locate the "Load missing language data" section. This tool is particularly helpful for newly installed languages.
